Marina Piria
Graduated in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, Croatia. At the same University she obtained PhD in Fisheries in 2007. From 2017 she works as full professor at University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture. From 2018 she acts as head of Department of fisheries, beekeeping, game management and spec. zoology at the same University. She is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate studies in several subjects related to fisheries, ichthyology and freshwater fish ecology and biology. Her main topic of research is fish ecology and biology with focus on invasive and non-native fish species. She gained experience at several institutions abroad; recently, at Massey University she was involved in New Zealand fish monitoring studies. Currently she is involved in several scientific projects related to fish invasiveness. She is elected member of EIFAAC/FAO Technical and scientific committee (2013 – now). She published 41 WoS core collection scientific papers and more than 80 other publications as: Scopus sci papers, monographies, congress papers and abstracts and technical studies.

Aljoša Duplić
Employee of Croatian Agency for the Environment and Nature (CAEN) with more than 12 years of experience in nature conservation. During that period he worked on different topics from nature conservation, mostly connected with species conservation (vertebrate species priority) and sites. He actively participated in preparation of proposal of the national ecological network and of Croatian proposal of the Natura 2000 ecological network. He worked on development of framework for implementation of the management of Natura 2000 ecological network (sites) in Croatia trough the Operational program for cohesion and competitiveness. During whole his professional career he is especially focused on conservation of freshwater fish and freshwater ecosystems.

Anamarija Kolda
After completing the Master studies of Environmental Science at the Faculty of Science in Zagreb, Anamarija Kolda is employed at the Ruđer Bošković Institute as an research assistant on the project "AQUAHEALTH - Microbial Ecology of Water as an Indicator of the Environmental Health", financed by the Croatian Foundation for Science. She is on her final year of PhD studies in the Oceanology at the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science (Zagreb). She co-authored 2 published scientific papers, 10 congress press releases and 3 monitoring reports.

Branko Glamuzina
Prof. Branko Glamuzina is full tenure professor at University of Dubrovnik. He is working at Department for Aquaculture from 2002. Beside teaching activity at Bachelor course of Aquaculture, Master course of Mariculture and doctoral study Applied Marine Sciences, he performed scientific and professional research in the field of aquaculture, estuarine and freshwater fishery in the catchment of River Neretva. He published 95 scientific articles cited in WOS CC database. During his scientific career he executed different research on diversification of marine culture, with several marine fish species like common dented and dusky grouper, to first production of Maliston Bay oysters in the hatchery and culture of eel in concrete ponds.

Daniel John Gilbert
He started his career as an engineering apprentice and changed it after 10 years in the industry. Followed by education at the University of Plymouth (United Kingdom) where he achieved both BSc in Marine Biology and MSc in Sustainable Aquaculture Systems. Since then he worked as an Assistant Manager for a freshwater hatchery and Seawater sites, both positions for the same company in the North West of Scotland, till he joined BioMar internal unit BioFarm as a Customer Advisor In August 2018.

Zsigmond Jeney
PhD in aquaculture, retired scientific advisor of the NARIC Research Institute for Fisheries and Aquaculture (HAKI), Szarvas, Hungary. He is specialized in fish pathology and fish genetics, with special emphasis on disease resistance. He participated in several EU research projects dealing with different aspects of freshwater aquaculture (e.g. Eurocarp and Aquaexcel2020). He has coordinated the preparation of the National Reports of Hungary on Biodiversity and Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. He has experience in planning and implementation of development assistance projects in South-East Asia and Central Asia.

Paolo Bronzi
Biologist, he was involved in aquaculture research, mainly physiology of fish and plant technology, both in marine and freshwater environments, for more than 45 years, most at ENEL (National Electricity Board of Italy), where since 1974 acquired a long experience on beneficial use of thermal waters in marine and freshwater aquaculture. In the last 30 years was following scientific and technical aspects of Adriatic sturgeon (Acipenser naccarii) rehabilitation in Italy, sturgeon farming and protection as well as marketing and statistics on sturgeon and caviar productions, globally. Member of the SSG (Sturgeon Specialist Group) of IUCN; Co-founder of the “WSCS” (World Sturgeon Conservation Society, 2003), Board member (2003-2011), now vice President (2012-2019)..

Želimir Filić
Retired scientist, entrepreneur and consultant with more than 40 years of work and experience in national and international research, development and production projects in aquaculture and aquaculture products processing.
After graduating of the Faculty of Marine Fisheries (Olsztyn-Szczecin) and validation master's degree in Oceanology at the University of Zagreb, he was employed (1970) in the Institute Ruder Boskovic in Zagreb, Center for Marine Research in Rovinj, where he founded and heads the Laboratory for Mariculture. Works on on the problems of shellfish farming (mussels and oysters), reproduction and culture of marine fish species (bass and sea bream) in the deepwater cage system-farms (1972. 1978). From science exceeds 1981 in the real sector („Mirna“JS Company for fishing and fish processing, Rovinj) with the Program of establishment and development of industrial shellfish and fish farming (mussels, oysters, sea bass and sea bream), from the juvenile stage to commercial size. Marimirna Company for Mariculture is founded, where he has been a manager since 1986 and from 1992 until 2008 co-owner. He was the President of Advisory Bord of Cenmar Company for mariculture-Zadar from 2002 to 2008. From 2009 until retirement in 2011, was a R&D Director of "Cromaris" –Zadar, the largest Croatian mariculture company.
During this period, strong business operations as well as cooperation on development projects with France (Sepia International-Paris) and Italy (Gruppo Pizzolo) are being established.
In that period, he participated in several courses and specializations in Sweden, Germany, France and Italy. At the beginning of the 80's, was a member of the Presidency of EAS (European Aquaculture Association). Was nominated as National coordinator of the FAO / UN Mediterranean Regional Aquaculture Project (MEDRAP).  Aquaculture Centers in Rovinj and Zadar were nominated as Regional Pilot Projects for mariculture in the same Project. Teaches and works on national development projects in the Mediterranean (Tunisia, Morocco, Malta, Italy ...), for a longtime is ex-president of the Aquaculture Assciation HGK, a national representative in FEAP (Federation of European Aquaculture Producers) and two years chairman of the FEAP Committee for the Mediterranean.
Author of several scientific and professional papers and projects, and participated in the construction of breeding facilities. Received several national and international prizes, including "FEAP Aword for Excellence in European Aquaculture“.
Member of the Organizing Committee of the International Aquaculture Conference in Vukovar and works on the promotion and popularization of aquaculture. Currently active in development projects of freshwater aquaculture (multifunctional and differentiated).

Dražen Oraić
PhD, doctor of veterinary medicine is a lead of the National reference laboratory for aquatic animal diseases at Croatian Veterinary Institute, responsible for diagnostics of fish, mollusc and crustacean diseases. Broad experience in field diagnostics of diseases of freshwater and marine farmed fish and aquaculture. Participated in many different working groups for writing the legal acts in aquatic animal health. Currently works in several EU funded project, FAIMMAC (EASME/EMFF project Fisheries and Aquaculture integrated management model along the Adriatic coasts), H2020 MedAID and AdriAquaNet (Enhancing Innovation and Sustainability in Adriatic Aquaculture).

Ivana Giovanna Zupičić
Doctor of veterinary medicine, works in the Laboratory for Fish, Molluscs and Crustacean Diseases, Croatian Veterinary Institute in Zagreb as a PhD student. She is currently involved in a MedAID (Mediterranean Aquaculture Integrated Development) project funded by the European Union in the frame of Horizon 2020.

Snježana Zrnčić
Senior scientist in Laboratory for Fish, Molluscs and Crustacean Diseases at Croatian Veterinary Institute. More than 30 years of experience in aquatic animal diseases and aquaculture. Currently serving as General Secretary of the EAFP (European Association of Fish Diseases). Involved in several EU projects: FAIMMAC, MedAID and AdriAquaNet. Worked as consultant in FAO funded projects (FAO TCP/RER/3402 “Assistance to Western Balkan Countries for Improving Compliance to International Standards on Aquatic Animal Health” and FMM/RAS/298/MUL “Strengthening capacities, policies and national action plans on prudent and responsible use of antimicrobials in fisheries”).

Danijel Mejdandžić
Born 2nd September 1985. and graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb (dr. med. vet.) in 2011. In addition to the usual veterinary work he has been working in mariculture for the last four years  where he is dealing with health and welfare of Mediterranean species of sea bass, sea bream and meagre. He works at the veterinary service at Cromaris d. d. which is the leading producer of sea bream and sea bass in Croatia. He is doing field work on fish farm inspections and is engaged in mariculture research, treatments of fish and preventive vaccination in the hatchery and cages at sea. He is co-author of two scientific papers related to fish parasitology.

Danijela Mioković
Born in 1974 in Zagreb.
Since 2015 she has been employed at the Croatian Agriculture and Forestry Advisory Service as expert advisor for fisheries, in Poreč.
She has a PhD in oceanography (M. Sc. biology - ecology) at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. During 2010/2011 she wrote her thesis entitled "Biological and ecological characteristics of whiting (Merlangius merlangus L.) in the Adriatic Sea". Her mentor was prof. dr. Miro Kraljević from the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split. She graduated from the University in 1997 and received doctorate degree in 2012. Previously she has been working at the Centre for marine research in Rovinj (Ruđer Bošković Institute) in the Laboratory for marine ecosystem processes. She has been employed as a research assistant and the main focus of her work was marine phytoplankton. She was also shortly employed at the Directorate for fisheries’ office in Pula where she worked on fishery administration.

Erik Díaz Gondra
Erik Díaz Gondra, fish veterinarian with a MsC in Aquatic Veterinay Studies by the University of Stirling, who first started working on the Scottish salmon industry, followed by over 2 years experience as a veterinarian for Skretting Spain. Currently working for HIPRA as a corporate product manager, in charge of the Mediterranean aquaculture vaccines.

Ana Gavrilović
Associated Proffesor Ana Gavrilović, has been employed at the Department of Fisheries, Beekeeping, Game Management and Special Zoology at the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb. In her 20 years of professional, scientific and educational career in aquaculture, she was the head of the Marine Sciences study at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula and worked at the Aquaculture Study of the University of Dubrovnik. Her broad scientific and professional interest includes physiology and technology of cultivation of aquatic organisms, design and construction of aquaculture systems including sustainable management and disposal of solid and liquid waste from farms and processing facilities, application and development of new technologies in aquaculture, and the safety and quality of aquaculture and fishery products. She acquired her Ph.D. at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb, and has professional trainings in the Czech Republic, Japan, Poland, and the United States. She had worked as a consultant on several commercial aquaculture projects in Croatia and abroad and occasionally works as an expert for the World Bank in the field of aquaculture. She has been a leader and associate on numerous scientific and technological projects and has published more than a hundred professional and scientific papers. Ana is co-author of three patent applications in the field of aquaculture technology and natural preservation of aquaculture products.

Ivan Župan
Assistant Professor at the Department of ecology, agronomy and aquaculture of University of Zadar. He holds a Ph. D. in applied marine science, gained at the University of Split, Croatia. His scientific interest is interdisciplinary oriented with over 20 published manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, related to areas of sustainable aquaculture, aquatic animal health and bivalve ecology. He has participated in several national and EU projects related to sustainable management of aquatic resources.

Danijel Kanski
His experience gathered from ten years of direct engagement in fisheries sector (from professional diving in aquaculture to management of several aquaculture farms) was up scaled with academia position at University of Zadar. Determined to use his experience in order to help moving fisheries sector towards sustainability concepts he accepts position of Fisheries and Seafood Officer in WWF Adria. After three years he helped to build strong Marine Program in WWF Adria thus becoming Marine Program Manager. Main area of his work is fisheries (both fishing and aquaculture) from small scale to industrial ones with focus on the Mediterranean area.

Tanja Šegvić-Bubić
She is an associate scientist at Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Laboratory of Aquaculture, Split. She completed her PhD in 2012 (University of Split). Her research work is focused mainly on the aquaculture and wild fauna (invertebrates, fishes) interactions, including genetic impacts on wild populations. She has been co-ordinator of several research projects, presently she coordinates HRZZ project Aquaculture impact on wild marine populations. Ms. Šegvić-Bubić is author or co-author of 29 publications listed at Web of Science, SCI: 209, h-index: 9.

Leon Grubišić
Mr. Grubišić is a senior scientist at the Institute of oceanography and fisheries Split (IOF). The IOF is one of the most important institutes for scientific and applied research within the fields of oceanography, fisheries and aquaculture in the Mediterranean. Dr. Grubišićs' scientific work is mainly focused on mariculture, marine fish reproduction biology, capture based aquaculture, culture of marine invertebrates and the impact of mariculture on the environment. He is the coordinator of several research projects being financed by national and international funds. Mr. Grubišić is author and co-author more than 50 scientific publications, most of them are listed at Web of Science. He lectures at graduate and post-graduate levels at Universities of Split and Zagreb, providing mentorship for graduate and postgraduate students.

Damir Kapetanović
After completing his education at the Veterinary Faculty in Zagreb, Damir Kapetanović has been working at Ruder Boskovic Institute (RBI) since 2003, where he also received a doctorate degree in Oceanology in 2009. During his career he became senior scientific associate and the head of the Laboratory for Aquaculture and Pathology of Aquatic Organisms. Since 2015, he has been the principal investigator of the scientific project AQUAHEALTH funded by the Croatian Science Foundation and PhD student mentor from 2016. He is also a member of the Council of the PhD Studies of Oceanology at the Department of Geology from 2014. From 2006-2009 he was an assistant at the course “Diseases of Aquatic Organisms” at the University of Dubrovnik and since 2014 the teacher of the course "Diseases of Fish, Bivalves and Crabs" at PhD Studies of Oceanology. He is a member of the Croatian Veterinary Association, Veterinary Chamber of Zagreb, the secretary of the Environmental Microbiology Section of the Croatian Microbiological Society, member of the Scientific Committee of the Croatian Food Agency and the RBI Ethics Committee since 2010. He is an author and co-author of 25 Current Content papers, 11 papers published in other journals and numerous studies.

Ekaterina Tribilustova
Ekaterina Tribilustova is a Senior Market Analyst in Eurofish International Organisation since 2007, before that she was involved in projects in the FAO and the Norwegian Seafood Council. Ekaterina has been carrying out various economic and marketing studies in catching, post-harvest and aquaculture sectors in different countries for the FAO, European Commission, General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean, Norwegian Seafood Council, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain, ARPA Asociados, Ministry of Agriculture of Croatia, Swiss Import Promotion Programme, and other organisations. One of her major focus areas includes analysis of markets, consumers, promotions and evaluation of selected fish and seafood species. She is a frequent speaker at the conferences in Norway, Italy, Spain, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia and other countries.

Sanja Čulin
Born in year 1958 in Split where she graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology in area Protection of  Environment in year 1983. She got Master’s degree in 1993. from the Faculty of Food Technology in Zagreb with the thesis "Contamination of Fish with Mercury in the Middle-Adriatic Sea", and the PhD in 2011. with the thesis "Difference of the content of fat and fatty acids in carp meat, depending on the season and breeding" from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology of the University of Mostar. From year 1983. until recently she had worked in the Public Health Institute of the Split Dalmatian County as the Head of the Department for Determination of Contaminants in Food, and as the Quality Manager of the Institute. She has been a leading researcher on international projects and has published several papers in the area of quality control and food safety.

Goran Kovačević
Works as an associate professor at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. His main research interest is symbiosis, evolution and ecotoxicology, and especially freshwater symbosis reserach. The main research points are green hydra, symbiogenesis, mechanisms of symbiosis, isolation and phylogenetic and taxonomical status of endosymbionts. The results are being practically applied in students' scientific work, and by implementation of the obtained resuts the teaching curricula are constantly being improved. He is a vice-president of the Croatian microscopy society. His point of interest are also photography and microphotography, with water as one of the main motivs. He is the author and co-author of 37 scientific papers, a chapter in a scientific book, 3 handbooks, 17 field papers and other works. He attended 42 international and domestic conferences with 49 contributions and initiated a number of domestic and international scientific cooperations.

Renata Barić 
MSc of Agronomy with 24 years of experience in matriculate from Hatchery technologists to hatchery manager. Since 2008. she is head of research and development in Cromaris, biggest producer of sea bass and sea bream in Croatia. R&D department include Veterinary Services, Quality Control and New Product Development. Also she is the manager of various projects in the company and one of the most complex was the Construction of a new hatchery capacity 30-35 mln.of fry. Involved in some international projects us Perform Fish and in a national project Blue Smart.

Brigita Hengl
Studied Veterinary medicine at University of Zagreb. In 2012 finished PhD in area of Biotechnical Sciences with the thesis Essential oils and natural zeolite influence on production and health performance of broilers, and microbiological contamination of chicken meat. From 1997 to 2008 worked as a veterinarian inspector in facilities for meat production and meat products, milk production and milk products. The main professional interest is in the risk assessment for microbiological and chemical hazards associated with food and feed. She works in the Croatian Food Agency as a Head of Department of risk assessment. She was a coordinator of the Scientific Committee on the biological hazards in food, and now is coordinator of national working group on Zoonosis. Member of the EFSA Scientific network for microbiological risk assessment (MRA). Involved in in the project „Aquatic microbial ecology as an indicator of the health status of the environment - AQUAHEALTH “coordinated by Ruđer Bošković Institute and “Mycotoxins in traditional Croatian meat products: molecular identification of mycotoxin-producing moulds and consumer exposure assessment” coordinated by Croatian Veterinary Institute. Since year 2017 she is national representative in the Configuration 'Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine, maritime and inland water research, and the bioeconomy' of the Horizon 2020 Programme Committee.

Sanja Vidaček Filipec
Associate Professor at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology University of Zagreb, where she teaches courses related to fish processing technologies and hygiene in food processing. She has published over 50 research papers and book chapters. Sanja is a national representative at the WEFTA (West European Fish Technologists Association) and chairs the working group “Fish Processing” within the EHEDG (European Hygienic Design & Design Group).
